Candidates wanted for Chair/Co-Chair positions

Dear Colleagues,

At the next Business Meeting of the Nephropathology Working Group, we will have to elect a new chair and co-chair. After five years in office, I have decided to step down and make room for a new chair.
For the future, a “rolling system” may be an attractive option for our Working Group, where the elected co-chair will automatically become chair after two or three years. This would keep the practical knowledge of how to run things and the “dos” and “don’ts” within the ESP alive and the challenge for the incoming co-chair is much lower compared to a complete change in the leadership. We will put this topic on the agenda of the Business Meeting.

In line with this idea, my co-chair, Helmut Hopfer, will apply for the chair position at the Business Meeting. However, in an open election there is room for more than one candidate for the chair position.

We will definitely need applications for the co-chair. To give you a better idea about the tasks of the chair and co-chair, I have put together a short “job profile”:

Requirement:
The applicant has to be a member of the European Society of Pathology in good standing (i.e. she/he has paid the membership fee) and should be an official member of the ESP Nephropathology Working Group.

Responsibilities:

• Organisation of the Nephropathology Sessions at the European Congresses of Pathology
• Participation at the two Working Group’s Chair Meetings and connecting to other Working Groups for joint sessions/seminars
• Developing and running other Working Group activities (e.g. website, ESP Nephropathology Series, Journal Blog)
• On occasion, co-organising and co-operating with other professional organisations in the field of nephropathology or nephrology
• Planning of educational courses and activities within the framework of the ESP (e.g. EScoP courses, ESP Progress Test)
